Chikmagalur actually means “the city of the youngest girls” in the local Kannada language. The community is said to have received a donation from the youngest girl in Rukmangada, the amazing leader of Sakrepatna and the final name. Chikmagalur is where espresso was first developed in a long time. The Chikmagalur area also contains Mullayanagiri, the highest mountain in Karnataka.
Chapter In the bustling valley, he is surrounded by the slopes of the luxurious espresso green mansion. The long road from Bangalore and its surroundings in the circle of Mother Nature make this place an ideal weekend for all Bangaloreans. Contact the chikmagalur homestay resort during the trip.
Duration of the trip: For us, it is a trip of 2 days and 1 night.
Transportation: We use our own vehicles to navigate this goal. We start in Bangalore around 4:30 am on Saturday morning and arrive in Chikmagalur around 10:00 am. To return to Bangalore, we started around 4:00 pm on Sunday and arrived before 9:00 pm.
On the way to Chikmagalur
Day 1: As I mentioned earlier, we departed from Bangalore around 4:30 in the morning until we arrived at 10:00 in the morning. During the transit, we stopped at the cafe coffee day and had dinner there.
After arriving at Chikmagalur, we boarded The Planters Court. We booked two double rooms at rupees. 1075 /-each (except for charges), because we are four people. The hotel has free parking on the grounds, which we did not find in most other hotels in Chikmagalur. Contact us at the resort of Chikmagalur.

After entering the room, we got dressed and decided to travel after lunch. We had lunch at the Mayura Hotel, but it is a small restaurant for vegetable lovers, but they offer the best North Indian food I have eaten in the entire South India. In fact, even the famous restaurants in Bangalore do not offer such delicious North Indian cuisine.
After charging for a delicious lunch, we booked a taxi at the nearby KSRTC shuttle station for sightseeing. Although we have a car, we are not safe enough to go to the ramp station, so we did not encounter any challenges. In this regard, we booked a Tata Indica from the bus station for 2200 rupees-showing the six most famous places around Chikmagalur in two days.
Athigundi is a small town, heading to Baba Budan Giri. This place provides travelers with breathtakingly beautiful views and is also an incredible place for photography.
Honnamana Halla Falls descended again on the way to Baba Budan Giri. However, although there is nothing to see, because it is one of the smaller waterfalls, there are still many tourists who like this place.
Honnaman Halla Fall
Bababudan Giri Datta Pets are the basic charm of the day. When we got there, it started to descend, the place was completely covered by fog, and the penetration rate was less than 50 meters. Nevertheless, the heavy fog also includes the rush of short trips.
There are three huge caves near
Shirin Passage, which are said to have been blessed by three Siddhas. They contain their symbols and “devices” (burial chambers). The annual Jatra is held here to show respect. The exciting landscape that surrounds us has attracted many frequent pioneers. This holy place is worshiped by both Hindus and Muslims. In Chikmagalur, you can see the guide that lights up here during Deepavali. The name of this summit is taken from Baba-Budan, a Muslim saint who has lived here for more than 150 years.
Also, these are the first places in the country’s history where espresso was developed in 1670.
Jhari Falls should be the best waterfall near Chikmagalur. To visit this place, it is necessary to walk along the street in the forest for about two kilometers. All conditions are equal, if we are not faced with the challenge of reaching this location, the location will be filled with filters.

When we wrapped these places, it started raining violently and we were completely drenched. We returned to the inn and prepared to leave. After that, we went to the restaurant where we stayed for dinner. The food there is acceptable, but it is no different from the lunch we had at Hotel Mayura.
Day 2: We have breakfast at the accommodation and leave all our equipment in the car for the first part of the day. As I suggested before, we don’t want to face the challenge of traveling in our own vehicle and reserving a vehicle for the trip. We need a place to store the vehicle. We mentioned the woman behind the hotel party and she generously allowed us.
The front we visited earlier today was Seethalayan Matha, which was heading to Mullayanagiri. It is said that the Seethala Mallappana Kanive on one side is blessed by Sidha Seethalaya, which contains a Marta and the double sanctuary of Seethala-Mallikarjuna.
Seethalayan Matha
At that point, we continue to the most prominent destination of the region, Mulay Yenagiri, in Karnataka, which is 1926.7 meters above sea level and located in the southern part of the mountain range. The small mound in the shrine compound is the highest point in Karnataka. The road to Mullayanagiri is extremely narrow, and you can enjoy the view from the steep cliffs. Going to the summit is luxurious and includes an uphill ride from the midpoint. There is a small shrine in Potou. We heard that on a sunny morning, the Arabian Sea can be seen from the highest point of the slope. Nevertheless, our days are not in such weather.
Mullayangiri
Our driver warned us on different occasions to leave for Mullaiyanagiri on time in the first part of the day; otherwise it would start to descend, but we could not get there early. So when we got there, it started to rain heavily. Due to the downpour, we tried to climb the steps to the top, but we could not pass halfway. The pouring rain and the wind are too strong; we have a feeling that we may be thrown down the slope at any time. By the way, this is a true understanding of the time value of existence.
We didn’t have a waterproof case. Opening the umbrella made us soaked like anything else, which is completely unimaginable. It was difficult to return to Bangalore wearing wet clothes, so we asked the lady at Planters Court Hotel to give us a room so that we could change clothes there. She again generously allocated a room to us without charge.
There is no smell of Hotel Mayura, we don’t need to leave Chikmagalur, so we went to lunch again. After loading from the lovely Kashmiri Biriyani, we depart for Bangalore at 3:30 pm.
Note: In my experience, here are some tips that I need to share.
- In Chikmagalur, it is absolutely necessary to transport wool and raincoats.
- If you need to reach the person in charge of Mullaiyanagiri, please be on time.
- If you are not a professional driver, do not face the challenge of traveling in your own vehicle. Especially if you are from Bangalore, don’t challenge.
