Through Shorts, YouTube’s TikTok competitor, creators now have another way to monetize their content. YouTube has launched a $100 million Shorts fund, from which creators can earn between $100 to $10,000.
The payout will be determined by the number of views and engagement generated by the creators’ Shorts. YouTube Shorts will be available in select countries beginning this month, including India, Brazil, Japan, Russia, the United Kingdom, the United States, South Africa, Nigeria, Indonesia, and Mexico.
How to be qualify?
Each month, YouTube will notify thousands of Shorts creators that they are eligible to receive a bonus from the Shorts Fund based on the performance of their channel’s Shorts the previous month. Each month in which a channel’s Shorts are viewed counts toward the channel’s monthly performance, not just the month in which they were uploaded.
There is no specific performance threshold for bonus eligibility. The performance threshold for bonus payments varies by month, depending on a variety of factors, including the geographic location of your viewers and the overall growth of Shorts.
Each month, your channel’s Shorts performance is evaluated, so even if you do not qualify one month, you may qualify the following month.
How would you know if you’re qualify?
After the first week of each month, creators will be notified via email and notification in the YouTube app if they qualify. The bonus amount and instructions on how to claim it will be included in both the email and notification.
These notifications should arrive shortly after the first week of the month for qualifying creators. They will have until the 25th of the following month to claim their bonus, after which it will expire.
How much can you get from YouTube Shorts fund?
Each month, qualifying channels can receive between $100 and $10,000. Bonuses are calculated according to the geographic location of a creator’s audience. As a result, the required viewership and engagement may vary between creators.
Bonus payments will be made to the AdSense account associated with your channel. Payment is contingent upon tax withholding and compliance with other AdSense policies.
How can you claim your YouTube Shorts fund?
Qualifying creators can click CLAIM BONUS in the email or in-app notification to navigate to the YouTube Studio Shorts Fund page. To claim their bonus, creators must complete two steps from this page:
- Accept the terms of the bonus.
- Create or connect an AdSense account.
After completing these two steps, your bonus will be claimed for channels that have an active and linked AdSense account, or those that receive payment from an MCN or network.
If you create an AdSense account, YouTube may take several days to create and link the account to your channel. Once your account is linked, we’ll send you an email to confirm that your bonus has been claimed.
How can you get your Shorts Bonus Payment from Google AdSense?
